The world of torrent websites is finally facing their Armageddon one after another. First, KICKASS torrent, then torrent.eu, and now EXTRATORRENT’s owner, who’s popularly known by their code name SAM, confirmed the shutdown of EXTRATORRENT through a quick message on their website; EXTRATORRENT quoted this message on their website only page, “ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline.. We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones. Thx to all ET supporters and torrent community. ET was a place to be…. May 17, 2017”.
The ExtraTorrent ShutDown Message Reads:
“ExtraTorrent has shut down permanently”
“ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline.. We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones. Thx to all ET supporters and torrent community. ET was a place to be….”
Earlier KickAssTorrents, which was another popular torrent website had shut down, though later clone websites had come up to take its place. But according to a report on EXTRATORRENT, SAM also added that EXTRATORRENT release group ETRG will also be inactive. So, one thing is for sure that there will not be any clone sites and there won’t be any data stored; EXTRATORRENT is shutting down for good.
It is good news for every government in order to destroy the piracy and its vast empire; after Kickasstorrent and torrent.eu, EXTRATORRENT is third biggest torrent site to be shut down completely, without leaving a trace of clone website or back-up plan. This killing spree of torrent websites began with the arrest of Artem Vaulin, the founder of Kickass Torrent, in 2016.
Since after the arrest of Artem Vaulin; Torrent.eu went offline; bidding farewell to its user. EXTRATORRENT is the third biggest torrent site to be seized for good. Torrent sites are facing a dynamic upsurge in cracking down by the government authorities. While some shutdown for better, clones do come up to take their place.
